VDO GPS manual
Getting started
The mobile navigation is a service. You have to register once for this service. The program for handling the navigation service is pre-installed on your mobile phone. The manual for the navigation service is available on the CD delivered with your SXG75.
Operation
• When you use the navigation service, data is transmitted in the mobile network (about 30 kB per 100 driven kilometres on average).
• For safety reasons you should only make entries for the navigation service while the vehicle is stationary.
Positioning
Place your SXG75 with integrated GPS receiver in the vehicle where it has an unimpeded view of the sky.
Note: Even under clear sky conditions it may take several minutes until the GPS-position is calculated by the phone. Please be patient especially during the first usage of the navigation service and after the system has not been used for a long time.
Start the program
You may start the program in different ways:
• Press the softkey that is preset with Navigation , or
• Please go to the main menu and choose Extras , then select Navigation .
In the Navigation menu you have the following options:
Plan a route
Navigate
Consult trip info
Setup
If the navigation is active a request is displayed to ask whether or not you want to continue the current guidance.
GPS connection
By default the integrated GPS receiver of the SXG75 is connected to the mobile navigation service. As soon as you select the Demo mode GPS simulation is selected instead.
As soon as a position is required and not available you will be asked whether you already want to start the route calculation with the last valid position or not. Please understand that it may take several minutes until the GPS-position can be calculated and assure that the integrated GPS receiver of the SXG75 has a unimpeded view to the satellites in the sky. This is mandatory to achieve satisfactory positioning performance for navigation.
Lack of current GPS position (e.g. in tunnels) will be indicated as red background in the map and arrow views and in the corresponding GPS status icons in general.

• Select Navigation : At the touch of a button on your phone the navigation service is ready to start.
• Enter destination: Select the destination address comfortably with the keys of your mobile phone.
• Dynamic routing: Arrow and map views and a pleasant voice ensure that you are guided to your destination over the quickest or shortest route in accordance with the current traffic situation.
