   Munich to remain worldwide headquarter of BenQ MobileThe mobile phones manufacturer BenQ Mobile will cut [277] jobs at its Munich site and end cooperation with about [250] external employees in Germany. Thus the company continues its operative readjustment. The company currently employs approx. 3,100 regular employees at its sites in Munich , Kamp-Lintfort and Bocholt . The mobile phones division of the Taiwanese company BenQ has almost 8,000 employees worldwide.  

    At the site in Munich , the company intends to cut [113] positions in research and development (R&D), [28] positions in sectors related to R&D, [82] positions in the field of Category Management and [54] positions in central functions. The external employees affected by these measures work in R&D in Munich and Kamp-Lintfort. Munich will remain the worldwide headquarter of the mobile phones manufacturer. BenQ Mobile will offer the employees affected by these measures cancellation agreements and compensation arrangements which exceed legal requirements. This restructuring process is to be completed by the end of this year.   

   With these measures the management reacts to the business development and at the same time continues the adjustments since the takeover of the mobile phones division from Siemens last October. After the sale of the research and development site at Aalborg , Denmark and the relocation of jobs in research and development from Ulm to Munich , this is another step towards optimizing the structures within research and development and realigning them with regard to safeguarding competitiveness.  

Also, the company announces that it will streamline its portfolio towards launching products which will be geared to the brand values lifestyle and design even more consequently than before. Already in July, BenQ Mobile will present new products under the BenQ-Siemens brand which will set new patterns in design.
