'Theft' is a program for Nokia Series 60 mobile phones that works as a safe protection from being lost or stolen.

What is Theft?

?Theft’ starts automatically as the phone is turned on, and then always keeps detecting whether the phone is turned off in a wrong way, or your SIM Card is changed. It also keeps checking messages arriving for an activation text you previously defined (See the "SMS text to attack" in Program Settings section). Then ?Theft’ will attack the thief in three ways:

With a permanent text on the screen saying that ?THIS MOBILE IS LOST OR STOLEN’ along with any other text you provide; such as your name and contact telephone number.
The phone will send messages to a list of recipients you created for ?Theft’ to inform you that the phone is locked (It will also inform you of the new SIM number if someone has changed your SIM Card.).
A very loud long siren will sound from the phone alerting people in the vicinity and disturbing the thief.
THE THIEF WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FORMAT THE PHONE AS FORMATTING REQUIRES A LOCKCODE (THAT YOU CAN CHANGE FROM THE PHONE SYSTEM SETTINGS) AND FOR THE THIEF TO DO THIS IT WILL TAKE SOMETIME AND THAT TIME WOULD BE THE ENOUGH TIME FOR 'THEFT' TO LAUNCH.

How will the thief be affected?

The thief changes the SIM; this requires powering off or rebooting the phone. Of course that will happen without the thief turning ?Theft’ off first as the thief does not know the code you used to ?Turn off? ?Theft’. The result will be that the next time the phone is powered on, ?Theft’ will enter attack mode; will show the display, will send messages to the phone numbers in the ?Recipients? list and will emit the warning alarm tone.
The thief changes the SIM; assuming you have set the ?Attack on SIM change? field to ?Yes?, the next time the phone is powered on ?Theft’ will detect that the SIM has been changed and will enter attack mode, and will carry out the same actions as above including sending the details of the new SIM card in the text message. Even if the thief subsequently re-inserts the original SIM, the attack will repeat when the phone is powered on and will continue to do so until the phone is "Unlocked" with the required code.
The thief does not change the SIM card and you send a text message from any other mobile phone to your phone containing text you provided in ?SMS text to attack? field.
There is only one way to turn the phone back to the normal mode; you must press ?Unlock? and then you must enter your valid ?Turnoff code? the same code that you provided to ?Theft’ in the ?Application? page of the ?Program settings? section.

What is Theft?
"Theft" is a program for Nokia Series 60 mobile phones that works as a safe protection from being lost or stolen.

‘Theft’ starts automatically as the phone is turned on, and then always keeps detecting whether the phone is turned off in a wrong way, or your SIM Card is changed. It also keeps checking messages arriving for an activation text you previously defined (See the SMS text to attack in Program Settings section). If any of these happen ‘Theft’ will attack the thief in three ways: 1) With a permanent text on the screen saying that ‘This mobile is lost or stolen’ along with any other text you provide; such as your name and contact telephone number. 2) The phone will send messages to a list of recipients you created for ‘Theft’ to inform you that the phone is locked (It will also inform you of the new SIM number if someone has changed your SIM Card.) 3) A very loud long siren will sound from the phone alerting people in the vicinity and disturbing the thief.

How to use Theft?
Transfer ‘Theft. sis’ file to your Nokia 60 series mobile phone through an Infrared or Bluetooth connection with any other device containing ‘Theft.sis’ file (PC or other mobile that has ‘Theft.sis’).

After successful installation, ‘Theft’ will run in the demo version and you will see Theft first screen.

If you press “Turn off”, ‘Theft’ will be closed; and ‘Theft’ will not be operational until next time you turn your phone off and on again. Doing this will mean that ‘Theft’ will not be protecting your phone. ‘Theft’ starts up when the phone power is turned on and should not be closed, it should be kept running in order to protect your phone. If you want to turn off ‘Theft’ and still protect your phone you should set “SIM change attack” field to “Enabled” (Attack on SIM change will be described shortly).
With ‘Theft’ running normally and not switched off, now press “Options” to see ‘Theft’ main menu and select “Program settings”.

Program settings:
Each time you need to enter the “Program settings” section of ‘Theft’, you will be required to enter your “Turnoff code” (this will be described shortly). The ‘Turnoff code’ is (0000) by default.

Now enter (0000) and press “Ok”.

Now you will see the “Register” screen.

The “Device Id” field is your mobile phone’s unique IMEI.
The “Registration Id” is the code you buy from your Retailer for activating the full functionality, “Registration Id” field is always “None” until you register your ‘Theft’ program.

Now use your joystick to go to the “Application” page of the “Program settings” section.

Application fields:
-The “To switch off phone” field is one of the most important fields for ‘Theft’. It indicates whether to set ‘Theft’ in active mode (by changing the “To switch off phone” field to “Will Turnoff Theft”), putting ‘Theft’ in active mode means that you must use your own “Turnoff code” to be able to “Turn off” ‘Theft’. Each and every time you or anyone else tries to “Turn off” ‘Theft’ you or they will be prompted for the ‘Turn off code’.
If you change the “To switch off phone” field to “Will Turnoff Theft”, you must “Turn off” ‘Theft’ first if you want to power off the phone without setting off the alarms and alerts. Otherwise next time your phone is powered on ‘Theft’ will launch automatically and will consider the phone is stolen (because the phone will sense it was powered off last time without turning 'Theft' off first).

If the “To switch off phone” field is “Won't Turnoff Theft” and the phone is powered off without turning off ‘Theft’ first, next time phone is powered on ‘Theft’ will launch in a normal mode but will not enter attacking mode.

-The “Attack on SIM change” field is one of the most important fields for ‘Theft’. It indicates whether to set ‘Theft’ in attack mode if the SIM card is changed. By changing the “Attack on SIM change” field to “Enabled”, if the thief tries to change your SIM Card, the phone will restart in attack mode and there is no way it can be turned back to the normal mode until you unlock it using your code. Even if the thief tried to change the SIM to the original one ‘Theft’ will keep entering attack mode until you unlock with your code. By setting this field to enabled you can safely turn off ‘Theft’ and it will also protect your phone as it will start up when the phone is next powered on and will detect if the SIM has been changed; if so it will enter attack mode.

-The “Turnoff code” field is where you can change the code you will be required to enter to be able to:
-enter the “Program settings” section of ‘Theft’.
-“Turn off” ‘Theft’ if the “To switch off phone” is “Will Turnoff Theft”, where you must turn off ‘Theft’ first to power off your phone.
-stop ‘Theft’ attack and turn it back to the normal mode.
It is recommended you change this code (up to 14 digits) to any code other than (0000) which is the default, as this code is the only way to bring ‘Theft’ back to normal mode if it is attacking.

-The “SMS text to attack” field is also very important to ‘Theft’. It indicates the text that the phone will recognise as your message to activate ‘Theft’ remotely. ‘Theft’ will begin the attack mode as a result of receiving an sms text containing this message from you. Sending a simple sms containing the text written in “SMS text to attack” field will turn the “To switch off phone” field to “Will Turnoff Theft” and put ‘Theft’ immediately in attack mode.
It is recommended you set this field to any simple and easy word(s) or phrase that you can remember.

Now use your joy stick to go to the next page of “Program settings” which is the
“Recipients” page.

Recipients list:

The “Recipients” page contains an empty list by default, you can add or remove from this list through the “Options” menu.
“Recipients” are mobile phone numbers that ‘Theft’ is going to send message to when the phone enters attack mode. This message will contain a simple text informing you that ‘Theft’ is now in attack mode and phone is locked (unusable). This message will also contain the SIM number the phone is using to assist tracking the thief. Also each time the thief changes the SIM card, the phone will require restart, and so ‘Theft’ will start again automatically when the phone power comes on and will attack again sending messages to the numbers in the “Recipients” list with the SIM card being used.

Now move your joystick to the right to go to next page of the “Program settings” section of ‘Theft’ which is “Actions” page.

Actions fields:

-The “Text on display” field is another of the most important fields in ‘Theft’, it is where you can edit text to be shown as a permanent display on the phone screen whilst in
‘Theft’ attack mode (when the phone is lost or stolen). It is recommended you type a phone number to contact you and possibly your address where someone can return the phone back to you. You may also like to indicate a reward for returning the phone.

-The “SMS to recipients” field indicates whether you want ‘Theft’ to send messages to the phone numbers in the “Recipients” list described above. By default this feature is “Off” as there are no numbers in “Recipients” list. It is recommended you add phone numbers to the recipients list and change this field to “On” ; otherwise ‘Theft’ will not send messages in the event it is lost or stolen.

-The “Raise alarm” field indicates whether you want ‘Theft’ to make a long loud warning alarm tone when the mobile phone enters attack mode. We recommend you turn this “On”.

How Theft attacks:
‘Theft’ will be in attack mode in three cases:

1- ‘Theft’ “To switch off phone” field is “Will Turnoff Theft” and the phone powered off without “Turn off” selected first (This can only be done using your own code).

2- ‘Theft’ “Attack on SIM change” field is “Enabled” and the SIM card changed.

3- ‘Theft’ receives a message containing the text written in “SMS text to attack” field of ‘Theft’.

The phone screen will be the attack mode screen.

The display will show: “THIS MOBILE IS LOST OR STOLEN” with the text you filled in the “Text on display” field of ‘Theft’ that you provided to ‘Theft’ in the “Application” page of the “Program settings” section.

There is only one way to turn the phone back to the normal mode; you must press
“Unlock” and then you must enter your valid “Turnoff code” the same code that you provided to ‘Theft’ in the “Application” page of the “Program settings” section.

(Note: the attack can be canceled if the program is not registered as there will be a “Cancel” button, and this is the only difference between the Demo version and the registered one).

How will the thief be affected?
There are only two possibilities outcomes for the thief when stealing the phone:

1-The thief changes the SIM; this requires powering off or rebooting the phone. Of course that will happen without the thief turning ‘Theft’ off first as the thief does not know the code you used to “Turn off” ‘Theft’. The result will be that the next time the phone is powered on, ‘Theft’ will enter attack mode; will show the display, will send messages to the phone numbers in the “Recipients” list and will emit the warning alarm tone. (These options will have to have been enabled as explained above if they are to function.)

2-The thief changes the SIM; assuming you have set the "Attack on SIM change" field to "Enabled", the next time the phone is powered on ‘Theft’ will detect that the SIM has been changed and will enter attack mode, and will carry out the same actions as above including sending the details of the new SIM card in the text message. Even if the thief subsequently  re-inserts the original SIM, the attack will repeat when the phone is powered on and will continue to do so until the phone is "Unlocked" with the required code.
This is what will always happen even if the thief keeps powering off the phone or changing SIM cards.

(Note: if the thief does not change the SIM and you send a message from any other phone containing the “SMS text to attack” you provided, ‘Theft’ will enter attack mode as soon as the message reaches the phone and ‘Theft’ will turn the "To switch off phone" field “Will Turnoff Theft” and starts attack functions immediately.)

Theft Typical Usage:
To protect your phone with ‘Theft’ follow one of the following two procedures or both:

1- Set “Attack on SIM change’ field to “Enabled’ so any time your SIM changes and the phone requires restart, ‘Theft’ will enter attack mode as soon as the phone power is switched on. ‘Theft’ will also detect any change of the SIM card and attack even if it ‘Theft’ was not on before the SIM was changed.

2- Set “To switch off phone” field to “Will Turnoff Theft” and do not turn off ‘Theft’ but just keep it running in the background; keep using your phone as normal and when you want to turn the power off, first turn off ‘Theft’ with your own “Turn off” code, Because you haveturned ‘Theft’ off before turning the phone off, when you turn the phone on again ‘Theft’ will start to protect your phone for you and will not enter attack mode. But if the phone turned off without turning ‘Theft’ off first, the next time the phone power is turned on ‘Theft’ will attack as it will consider the phone is being used by someone other than the owner.
